Good for the Chinese, we all need to do our part, and certainly it was critical for China to do so.

Hey they got the money to spend on it. They got it from us, by selling their products to us, we intern sent our money over there, instead of paying Americans to produce the same products. Those that use to produce those products, now work at the Big Box that imports those products. Now those factory worker have no health insurance, or pensions, but they do get to work in an environmentally controlled work area, for half the pay, and no benefits.

Everyone should be working on alternative power. However, it shouldn't be forced on us.

How much are you willing to pay to get 100% clean emissions? Double? Triple?. Coal plants are 95% clean now. Should we double our electric costs to get the last 5%? Will it make any difference? All these years the Left has stopped new Nuclear plants that could have been online producing no emissions. Now you say carbon dioxide is a pollutant. Any BS to get more government control. You take away our freedom and want to tax us into misery. I'm sick of all you old hippies and your hatred of the Human race and worship of the Planet.....

I doubt seriously that this "green power" is any more than superficial. Until the rest of the world applies financial pressure on China they will continue to use coal for most of their energy. They are using a lot of oil as well.

With all their smog as experienced at the Olympics & it is worse today, it is about time that they gave in to cleaning up. Japan & India are next.

The article also says they already get 21% of their Electric from Hydroelectric. However, they WERE building two new Coal power plants every week and were the worst polluting country in the world.. Therefore, it's good they are starting to convert. They can certainly afford it with all the money they made off the USA while using their cheaper Coal. Too bad we didn't make a bundle off other countries. Even so, >"Some top Chinese regulators even worry that Beijing’s mandates are pushing companies too far too fast. The companies may be deliberately underbidding for the right to build new projects and then planning to go back to the government later and demand compensation once the projects lose money"<.
Using more Green energy is good we just can't afford to do it right now the way they are mandating in the USA with the Cap & Trade Penalties which will raise the cost of energy.
China is still going to be the biggest polluter for awhile >"is helping to slow China’s steep growth in emissions... construction of coal-fired plants having slowed to one a week and still falling"< since these will only help offset some of the increased consumption they predict.
Also remember India's intention to put a cheap vehicle in the hands of a large portion of their Gigantic population.

China is quickly becoming the world superpower that we used to be here in the US. It is gratifying to see that they are starting to become responsible.

This is good! There is plenty of wind and sun for all. If China also joins the green movement, I'd say that is the death knell for OPEC.
