Yep...cash prices now allowed...wow. Most people still pay with debit/credit cards.

Thanks for the "heads up." They have still not changed the posting guidelines, last time I looked. So, I guess we are back to the original thought about why GB exists "Ka-Ching" -- and not to have a consistent way for GBs across the country for folks to easily compare gas prices. They have now agreed to mix apples and oranges. Oh, well. Any thoughts there about stupid comments, like"friendly staff" or "prices will be going down today."

Hello StratusGirl and thank you for your comment. When I joined a few years ago, I tried to become familiar with all the GasBuddy rules so that I could make responsible posts. One of the rules stated that since most folks use credit cards to buy their fuel, you should post the credit price in lieu of a cash price, if one was offered. I had been doing that faithfully, and been annoyed, as you are, when others posted the cash price. I finally decided to write a complaint to one of these "rule-breakers," and looked up the rule so I could quote it to them verbatim. Imagine my surprise when I found the rule has CHANGED! The CASH price is now preferred! I don't agree with it; I think the previous "credit" rule was better. However, I started just last week to post the cash prices and I don't blame you, and others, for being annoyed. I found this new rule in the FAQ section.

Hi, Thanks for the comment!! Still don't know what you're getting at, but we post on our Favorite (more than 10) Stations List - whatever we see, when we see it (the computer program can handle it however it chooses). We don't bother making an entry for a station if the same price has been entered in the previous few hours, but we're sure not going to wait 36 hours before updating (NOBODY else does). That needs to be corrected. It is an error, if we go by the guidelines in place since 2005.

Hi SG,
This station is actually Rochester - NE. When the guidelines were devised about 5 years ago, it was agreed that any station north of I - 490 would be in Rochester NE or NW. Any station to the south of I - 490 would be Rochester SE or SW.
Since the Hess at 1849 East Ave. is just to the north of I - 490, this would place it in Rochester - NE.
I am very familiar with the area; it is near my old 'hood'.
I hope this clarifies the issue.
