Mac: then maybe we need to cut the $6 Billion in subsidies to Pig Oil first. After all Pig Oil reaps massive, often near record, profit margins.

If there are NO taxpayer subsidies payed or allowed to Waste Management or its partner in this endeavor other than the tax deductions allowed to each and every taxpayer, then we have no objection to this enterprise. Indeed, this enterprise would seem to be an idea that certainly needs exploring if the exploring is done by private enterprise.

This is a great idea. We already burn waste in our area to create electricity. Now a new recycling program is beginning and this will remove much of the waste, IF - people use it weekly. 12000-13000 homes to be covered, plus businesses and multiple housing.

Back in the early 80s there were some who advocated exploring the use of industrial hemp as biomass to make ethanol, but it "couldn't be done" due to the problem of how to remove the cellulose. Seems these folks have solved that technical hurtle. Renewable, carbon absorbing hemp would be an ideal energy source. 1. Annually renewable 2. Higher yield per acre than trees or corn 3. Not a food crop, so won't destabilize food prices 4. Carbon neutral (absorbs carbon during growth and releases it when burned) 5. Grows well in poor soil (doesn't require petrochemical fertilizers or herbicides to out compete weeds). ** Oh, and Waste Management was not controlled by organized crime, they fought against organized crime to gain market share in places like New York.

Forget it! They will want to get subsidized by the taxpayer for it and we may never get CNG.

Why sugar as an intermediate process? Seems like an extra unnecessary step.

Looks like WM has come a long way from being a company controlled by organized crime and Wayne Huizenga - or has it? (Ask someone from NJ.)

Sugar for fuel would be an excellent idea! Perhaps that way it won't go into all of our food!

I have a better idea. Let's turn garbage into fertilizer to grow more food so that we don't starve the world while we're sticking 40% of our corn crop in our gas tanks.

The US is an extremely wasteful country so there is an abundance of garbage. Better to extract something useful from it before burying it, burning it, or any of the other wasteful things we do with it now. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle — produce less garbage!

The good news is if you turn garbabe into sugar for fuel, the sugar can't rot your teeth.

Have to count the cost 1st! Remember? We don't have any money. These are projects for when we get our economy under control.
